When I was up late night shopping online one night, I ran across this website called LAMODA101 that had the most beautiful minimal pieces I had ever seen in my life. It’s one of those websites that’s so clean that you just kind of assume it’s a luxury label. (Even the font looks like it cost them millions of dollars!) I was actually scared to filter results Low to High, because I thought for sure even their bottom prices were going to be hundreds of dollars. Sigh… a girl can dream.
And then the page refreshed, and I was pretty confused on what was happening on my screen. $18, $20, $25… huh? And then I saw this dress. And the number beside it said $35.
WHAT?! Wait… all of the prices are like this?
Okay… so long story short, I ordered 9 pieces. (My name is Jamie and I’m a budget shopaholic.)
But for these prices, how could you not? And even better, the pieces that came in the mail were even more beautiful than on the site, if that’s possible. The material is super thick and the quality is unreal. I absolutely had to feature LAMODA101 for my deal divas… they’re a best kept secret that every budget fashionista needs to know.
This sweet little keyhole dress was the very first thing I added to my cart. It’s called the Cassatt Open Mock Neck Dress, and it satisfies the ’60’s princess inside of me. It’s a little Mod, a little Spring, and so, so Twiggy. Up until about 1966, 50’s style was really hanging on, and it wasn’t until Twiggy and designer Mary Quant launched the iconic “Chelsea” mini dress that the Mod movement and ’60’s fashion were really underway. And like everything else that happened in the 1960’s, the mini dress was revolutionary… and not to mention, scandalous.
One of Twiggy’s most iconic Carnaby Street looks was the statement collar, and I feel like even today she would love this piece. It’s so easy to pull off in 2016 with a few updated trends. I opted for a middle hair part- I sleek mine down with my BLNDN hairspray.
I also added a stack of Alex and Ani’s and a pair of platforms. Mine are from Payless a few seasons back (don’t hate me, I picked them up on clearance for $3), but I’ve linked a couple similar pair at the end of this post.
Oh… and very important. It has pockets, and we all know that dresses with pockets are like the unicorns of the fashion world. For the first time in basically history, I didn’t carry a purse today. One I.D, debit card, cell phone, and chapstick later, these babies were deep enough not to show any of it. Woohoo! Two free hands for coffee! Or for T-Rex’ing. Whatever.
