Happy Monday, C+Cers! I’m really excited to talk about today’s outfit, because I actually made this dress myself. I mean, not like I picked out fabric at Joann’s and whipped out my sewing machine or anything, but online at eShakti.com. I was really excited when they reached out to me a few weeks ago and invited me to custom make my own dress to review on C+C. I had no idea a company like this existed. You log on, pick your fabric, sleeves, length, and size (anywhere from 0-36w), and they make it for you. It takes 7-10 days to get it, but it’s your very own and such a fun process! I love that their sizes cater to all shapes and sizes of women. It’s so important to me that all C+C readers are able to get their size in the pieces I showcase.
I really fell in love with a sample fabric and cut layout they displayed on the site, so I customized my dress pretty similarly– I absolutely loved this red bird print (although it was a toss up with that adorable lemon print), and made mine a maxi dress rather than the mini they had displayed. I was also really impressed with the fabric– it’s really thick, and although that meant it took me like 40 minutes to steam to get all the wrinkles out, it really was such a high quality. Alex and I have two friends weddings coming up in a few months, and I’m definitely thinking this will be the perfect dress for at least one of them.
I’m also obsessed with the details; this pleated empire waist and box pleating at the waist add such subtle, feminine touch. It also has a little clasp at the top of the v-neck, which you can keep buttoned for a little modesty or open up for date night with a cute lacy bandeau like this one underneath.
This whole process has been so much fun. I’m kind of obsessed with eShakti now! You guys have to click over and look at the lemon print fabric you can use… too stinkin’ cute! I almost want to get another maxi of this exact cut and make it with the lemon fabric! Maybe eShakti create a monster.
